This is a student-pitched short film project at Entertainment Technology Center of Carnegie Mellon University. The film is based on the 1920 German Expressionist silent classic, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. It was composited of CG and live-action elements.
Also, we explored ETC’s newest technology – Motion Capture system by Organic Motion. Different then the industry’s motion capture system, this is a marker-less system which required no special suits and markers/trackers. However, it came with some limitations like accuracy and no detailed joints detection like fingers and wrists.
At the end of the semester, we managed to build a wiki page about this system for future semester students and faculties to use at ETC. http://wiki.etc.cmu.edu/organic-motion
